Making good travel plans and staying in nice hotels in the cities you visit is going to make your trip a pleasure or a pain. Find out the regulations and requirements for traveling to the country or countries you are going to well beforehand. There will be passport requirements. A passport that is valid may be different in each country. There are vaccinations needed for some countries but not others. The vaccinations must be given in advance, so check the rules to allow plenty of time to visit the doctor.
Renew an old passport a few months ahead of time. Apply for a new one for a new family member or travel companion a few months in advance also. International travel will require you to use a passport when you register for flights as well as when you board or pass the security checkpoints. Minor children and infants need a valid passport for an overseas trip. United States citizens need no passport to travel in the US. They do need some valid form of identification. A passport is often used for this purpose. It cannot be an expired passport.
There are countries that will not accept a passport that expires within six months of the time of entry. These include Belgium, Singapore Romania, Tunisia, Paraguay, Malaysia, Israel, Indonesia, Ecuador, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates. Other countries have a three month validity rule and your passport may not be due to expire within three months after arrival. These are Denmark, Cambodia, Switzerland, Fiji, South Africa, New Zealand, Estonia and Croatia.
United States citizens can travel to Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas using only a valid license to drive. They can, alternatively, use a valid passport. Airline travel, long or short can be tiring. Checking in to a fine hotel should make you comfortable and refresh you for the next day of sightseeing.
Costa Rica, in Central America borders Nicaragua, Panama, the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. It is a lovely country with such varied terrain that you would never run out of sights worth seeing. You can travel to rain forests, dry and temperate forest lands, mountains and lovely beaches. Swim in the Caribbean and Pacific or just walk the miles of beaches. Travel from your hotel each day for a variety of tourist experiences.
The part of Costa Rica along the Caribbean coast is not as popular a travel spot due to the mosquitoes and relative isolation. However, for those who want to see sea turtles or go whitewater rafting, it is the premier area. Leave the comfort of your hotel and enjoy the great outdoors. Return to the comforts of deluxe hotels after a day of adventurous travel in the wild area along the Caribbean Sea.
