King Flat Sheet Length
The king flat sheet length is 274 cm or 108 inches. The height in centimeters is 259 cm or 102 inches. The king fitted sheet on the other hand, measures 198 x 203 cm or 76 x 80 inches. The California king fitted sheet is 182 x 213 cm or 72 x 84 inches.
How the Flat Sheet is Used
The flat sheet is placed over the fitted sheet, which in turn covers the mattress. The flat sheet is tucked at the bottom and sides under the comforter. The flat sheet makes the bedspread look more attractive.
At the same time, it keeps the comforter clean. Of course the king sheets can also be used to keep people warm. In many cases it is used as a substitute for the blanket.
Difference from the Fitted Sheet
The king flat sheet length aside, there are other ways to distinguish a flat sheet from the fitted sheet. As the name suggests, the sheets have a flat appearance. Their shape also makes folding simple.
Fitted sheets are more difficult to fold because of the corners, which are elastic. You can only smooth a fitted sheet by pulling it over the mattress.
About Fitting
It is very important to select the right sheet for your mattress. With flat sheets, it is all right even if you pick the incorrect size for your bed. For example, the king flat sheet can be used in a twin mattress.
But the same cannot be said for the fitted sheets. The sheet size and mattress have to match. If they do not, you won’t be able to tuck the fitted sheets in.
What Makes for a Good Flat Sheet?
The quality of the flat sheet will be determined by the number of woven threads per inch in the fabric. The more threads per square inch, the softer it will be. Flat sheets with 300 to 400 thread counts are very soft. Those with 500, 600 and higher thread counts are even cozier.
There are also quality 280 thread count sheets available. Sheets with thread counts below 200 may be too rough for some. The fabric used will also have an effect on the feel.
The king flat sheet length is standard, so when you see a sheet labeled king size, it will be in the specs mentioned. Again, check the fabric and thread count before you buy; they make all the difference.
