Latin America
How diferent European Spanish is from the one spoken in Latin America?
And can I learn European Spanish for Latin America? I just have no other choice as only European Spanish courses are offered in my country.

Well, that’s a good statement. I intend to visit Uruguay.
I live in Spain but know many Latin Americans here. I don’t generally have any problems talking with Latin Americans. We Americans have a few problems with “cookies, rubbish, jelly,” etc. but we understand the British just fine. I think the differences are comparable.
When I travel to Latin America, I try to remember use “ustedes” when I would use “vosotros” here. I avoid words like “coger” that mean “pick up” or “hold” here but means something ugly there. You have to learn those little by little, I think.
We pronounce the “z” and “c” before “e” and “i” as “th” while in Latin American it’s pronounced as “s.” But it’s pretty easy to understand that difference in pronunciation.
So if you learn good Castilian Spanish, I think you’ll do fine in Uruguay.
